Description

Dordon Hall is a farmhouse dating from the 16th or 17th century, with a front range that was rebuilt or added in the early 18th century, along with some alterations and rebuilding in the 19th century. The building features a timber frame with whitewashed brick infill, while part of the left range has been rebuilt in 18th or 19th century brick. The front range is constructed of regularly coursed sandstone, complete with a string course and a moulded cornice. The left corner and return side of this range have imitation ashlar render. The roofs are covered with plain tiles, and the front range includes a parapet and crow-stepped gable parapets. There are brick ridge, end, and internal stacks.

The complex and irregular plan includes a two-storey, four-bay 18th century range. The slightly projecting third bay features a 19th century ribbed door with an overlight, set within a massively rusticated surround that has triple keystones. The 19th century wood cross windows have horizontal glazing bars and segmental arches with keystones. To the left, there is a two-window range that is set back, along with a porch. On the right side of the ground floor, there is a blocked segmental-arched opening that has an old one-light window with horizontal glazing bars. The building also has irregular 20th century fenestration.

At the rear, the exposed framing shows jowled posts at the gable end. Inside, the hall is noted for its broad stop-chamfered spine beams and an altered open fireplace with fire windows.
