Description
Croft House is a house built around 1780, with early to mid-19th century and early 20th century additions. It is constructed of Flemish bond brick and features a dogtooth cornice. The roof is covered with plain tiles and has brick stacks at the right end and ridge. The house has a central staircase plan that has been extended to an irregular shape with additions on each side and at the rear. It stands three storeys high and has a five-window range. The original three-bay symmetrical central range includes a pedimented central gable with a small lunette window. The entrance features a five-panelled door with panelled reveals and a fanlight with decorative glazing. An early to mid-19th century stucco Tuscan porch with columns and pilasters has simple Grecian pediments on either side. The ground floor has canted bay windows, and a similar addition on the left side has a late 20th century sash window on the ground floor. The house features 16-pane and central 12-pane sashes, with lower second floor windows having 8-pane and 6-pane sashes, all with rusticated rendered flat arches. An early 20th century addition on the right side is set back and has two storeys with a one-window range. The 16-pane sashes in this addition have rendered lintels and sills. The interior has not been inspected.
