Description
Forge House, also known as the Forge Cottage, is a house dating from around 1600, with a 17th-century addition. The ground floor is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, while the first floor is tile-hung, topped with a plain tile roof. The building has two storeys, with the roof hipped to the left and featuring a gablet. There is a large projecting stone stack with brick flues at the right end and a projecting red brick stack at the left end. The windows are regularly arranged, consisting of two glazing-bar sashes, and there is a central half-glazed and panelled door. At the rear, there is a short two-storeyed timber-framed wing from the 17th century, along with a 19th-century lean-to. Inside, there is a rear two-light ovolo-moulded mullion window with diamond subsidiary mullions, exposed timbers, and two timber-framed bays.
