Description
Glyder House and the Sugar Loaves Public House are located on Eyhorne Street in Hollingbourne. The public house features a facade from the 19th century, while Glyder House has an early to mid-18th century facade. The core of the building may be older. Glyder House is constructed of red brick with occasional grey headers in Flemish bond, while the public house is pebbledashed. Both buildings have a plain tile roof and stand two storeys tall with a garret on a brick plinth.
The public house has a rendered plat band, while Glyder House features a dentilled and moulded wooden eaves cornice, and the public house has a dentilled and boxed cornice. The central bay of the public house slightly projects forward, with plain pilasters at each end of the public house and at the right end of Glyder House. Both buildings have half-hipped roofs, with a multiple brick ridge stack at the center of the public house and a central brick stack on Glyder House.
Glyder House has a regular three-window front, consisting of two 12-pane sashes and a central 8-pane sash in open boxes. The public house has a regular five-window front featuring slightly recessed 12-pane sashes with thick glazing bars, and a central window with a rounded head and keystone. The central door to Glyder House is made up of six fielded panels and has a flat corniced hood above it. The public house has a central half-glazed door beneath a flat consoled hood. The interiors have not been inspected.
