Description

Meadow Way Cottage, Poste Cottage, and Small Mead are a row of houses located on Eyhorne Street in Hollingbourne. This building dates back to the early 16th century or earlier and was originally a house, cafe, and shop. It is constructed with a timber frame and rendered exterior, topped with a plain tile roof. The structure has two storeys and an attic, with a semi-basement on the left side, sitting on a stone plinth.

The roof is steeply pitched and hipped, sloping down to a lower ridge at the right end, and features gablets. There is a projecting brick stack on the left gable end and a multiple brick stack on the front slope of the roof, located to the right of the center. A small hipped eaves dormer is also present.

The building has an irregular arrangement of windows, including three broadly spaced casements: two with two lights and one with three lights. There are two adjacent boarded doors towards the left end, which are accessed by three steps and are sheltered by a continuous flat bracketed hood. A 20th-century ribbed door is located towards the right end, accessed by four steps and covered by a flat moulded and bracketed hood.

On the right end, there is a former butcher's shop front under a leaded canopy, featuring a three-light window with a panel of glazed tiles beneath it and a boarded door to the left. An iron grille covers the door and window. A rear lean-to is also part of the structure. The interior has not been inspected.
