Description
Vine Cottage is a house dating from the late 16th century, with later additions. It is constructed of flint with brick dressings and features a thatched roof. The building has two storeys. The central door, which is from the 20th century, is set in its original opening and is flanked by a four-light 20th-century casement window on each side. Both the door and the windows are covered by hoods on labels. On the first floor, there are three 20th-century casements, with the one on the right next to a square 16th-century staircase light. The roof is gabled and supported by kneelers made of re-used ashlar stones. Inside, there are internal gable stacks with three square plinths that carry bell-based octagonal flues topped with renewed caps. The rear of the cottage features 20th-century windows similar to those at the front, along with two blocked horizontal windows on the first floor. To the right, there is one square 16th-century window on each floor. The north gable has two blocked circular windows, while the south gable has one blocked circular window and two 20th-century casements. The forecourt walls are made of flint with brick coping.
