Description

Brick Kiln Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with remodels from the 18th and 19th centuries. It is constructed of flint with brick dressings and has a pantiled roof. The house consists of two sections, with the main facade facing west.

The building is two storeys high. On the left side of the centre, there is a large basket arch that encloses a panelled door, which is flanked by two 18th-century casement windows and a rectangular overlight. To the right of the facade, there is one 20th-century top-hung casement window. The first floor features two 18th-century casement windows and one sash window, all with intact glazing bars. There is also evidence of further blocked windows. At the south end, a stepped buttress can be seen. The roof has a bell-based gable design with moulded kneelers.

Inside, there is an internal stack at the north gable end and a partly external south stack that carries three flues. To the south, there is a two-storey, two-bay extension that is largely from the 19th century, featuring casement windows on each floor and a bell-based gabled roof. The east elevation of the main house includes a 19th-century outshut under a catslide roof, with a 20th-century door to the right and a stepped buttress at the corner.
