Description

Pond Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 16th century or early 17th century. It is constructed from knapped coursed flint with brick dressings and has a red pantiled roof. The building is two storeys high and features four windows. On the ground floor, there are two sash windows with glazing bars set in 18th-century brick openings, one enlarged 19th-century plate glass sash, and a 19th-century three-sided canted bow with three plate glass sashes. The first floor has four regularly spaced sash windows with glazing bars in 18th-century brick dressed openings.

The central entrance has a doorcase from around 1840, which includes an architrave surround, palmette console brackets, an entablature, and a pentice canopy. The door itself is a four-panel raised and fielded door with a rectangular fanlight above that has margin light glazing bars.

The east gable shows earlier features, including a blocked rectangular ground floor window with flush brick quoins, two first floor brick dressed fire windows with relief brick drip moulds, and one attic window. The ground floor has a brick dado-level string course, brick quoins, eaves, and coped end gables. There are two end gable and two ridge stacks that are 20th-century replacements. The west gable has one attic drip mould fire window. Additionally, there is a two-storey hipped roof wing at right angles to the main building, and the rear includes one ground floor and one first floor long and low brick dressed window, along with a ground floor lean-to outshut wing.
