Description
The remains of the Church of St. Andrew are the ruins of a parish church, with fabric possibly dating from the 13th century, details from the 15th century, and early 19th-century rebuilding. The structure is built of flint with stone dressings, and features brickwork in the tower, the nave's north buttress, and the east gable. Only the nave and the west tower remain. The tower has an early 19th-century west door with a window above, set in a 15th-century embrasure with a drip mould. It also has angle buttresses and brick two-light mullioned belfry windows. The brick nave's north buttress and east gable are part of the early 19th-century restoration. Inside, there is a Perpendicular tower arch with moulded bases and capitals, semi-octagonal piers, and a double hollow chamfered arch. The nave has a blocked four-centred north opening, and the east gable cuts across the south half arch opening of the nave. A 18th-century east window has been reported. The church was unroofed in 1952.
