Description

TF 73 SE BIRCHAM BIRCHAM NEWTON 7/12 The Old House. II Farmhouse. First half of C17. Flint with brick dressings to south, Flemish bond brick to north, red pantiled roof. 2 storeys. Lobby entrance plan to south, later extension at north. 4 ground floor 3 light C19 arched headed casements under brick soldier arches. Central 2 leaf lobby entrance door with moulded architrave. To north 4 panel door with architrave. 4 first floor mid C20 metal frame casement windows. Stitching of C17 brick first floor dressed openings at south above south window and door. C18 English bond brick heightening and corbelling courses. Tile coped parapets. One axial lobby entrance and one north end stack. North gable has 2 south gable, and one blocked brick dressed attic fire windows. At rear on axis with lobby entrance one block ground and first floor brick dressed fire window. One further blocked C17 opening. 2 storey north-west brick wing under separate roof pitch. Interior: centre ground floor has stopped and chamfered spine and bressummer beams. Rear wing has first floor perhaps reused ovolo moulded and stopped early C17 door architrave. Ridgeless butt purlin roof with collars. Ovolo moulded and stopped door architrave.
