Description
Bethel Hospital Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed of flint with brick dressings and features a 19th-century brick rear wing. The building has pantiled roofs and follows a lobby entrance plan. It stands two storeys tall and is arranged in three bays on a flint plinth.
The central porch is gabled and two storeys high, featuring a 20th-century door beneath a 19th-century two-light cross casement window. The ground floor has mid-19th-century sash windows with glazing bars set in original brick surrounds, while the upper floor has two 19th-century three-light cross casements. The roof is gabled with a central ridge stack and has parapeted gables. The west and east gables have blocked window openings with 17th-century brick quoins, and there are reduced attic windows.
At the rear, there is a large two-storey 19th-century extension with attics, built of brick. The interior is entirely from the 19th and 20th centuries, featuring two chamfered and tongue-stopped bridging beams.
