Description

The obelisk located to the north of the railway bridge on Thames Street in Staines dates back to 1837. It is made of cast iron and is associated with the Coal and Wine Tax. This obelisk, similar to the city posts also included in the register, marks the starting point of the boundaries of the City of London.
