Description
Nos 44, 46, and 48 on High Street in Staines are early to mid-18th century buildings. They are three storeys high, constructed from buff brick with red brick quoins and dressings, featuring red and yellow bands. The buildings have a modillion eaves cornice and a hipped slate roof with four inset chimneys, indicating an interesting layout. The facade includes three windows on each floor, with the penultimate windows on either side being blind. The remaining windows are flush framed sashes, several of which still have their glazing bars. There are three modern shop fronts at ground level, and a small panel is located in the centre of the second floor. The west return features a blocked two-light wood mullion window on the second floor and a flush framed sash window on the first floor with a cambered head. The rear of the building has likely been rebuilt.
