Description

The Fire Engine Shed, located in Market Square, Staines, was built around 1880, likely at the same time as the nearby Town Hall. It features a yellow brick gabled front with a modillion cornice that extends up the gable, along with rebated brickwork and a moulded brick plinth and string. The building has two archways with moulded architraves, one inscribed "Fire Escape" and the other "Fire Engine." Decorative painted terracotta bands and Doulton pottery ornaments are present in the gable and plinth. There are plans for the building to be converted into a museum.
