Description

The Coal Duty Obelisk located in the front yard of number 137 on High Road in Wormley was erected in 1861 to mark the boundary of the London coal duty. It is one of seven such obelisks in the district. The obelisk is made of painted cast iron and stands approximately one and a half metres high. It features a square post with a flat pyramid top, chamfered corners, and roll-moulded necking. On its surface, there is a raised shield displaying a painted cross, which represents the arms of the City of London.
