Description
The Coal Duty Obelisk, located at the foot of the hill opposite the stile to the public footpath in Wormley, was erected in 1861 to mark the boundary of the London coal duty. It is one of seven such obelisks in the district. This obelisk is made of painted cast iron and stands about one and a half metres high. It features a square post with a flat pyramid top, chamfered corners, and roll-moulded necking. The obelisk has a raised crest with a painted cross, representing the arms of the City of London.
