Description

The Woodman Public House is a house, likely dating back to the 17th century or earlier, with 20th-century extensions at the rear. It is timber-framed and features a black stuccoed sill, roughcast walls, and steep roofs covered in old red tiles. Though set back slightly from the road, it faces north. The building is composed of a three-cell layout, including a lobby-entry and a jettied east crosswing. It has two windows on the first floor and three on the ground floor, plus an additional window in a western lean-to extension. A similar catslide extension provides a porch on the east side. A central boarded door is situated beside the internal chimney. The windows are flush casements, with rectangular leaded glazing; those below the jetty have three lights, while the others have two.

Inside, the middle cell exhibits axial beams and joists, while the narrower western cell has axial joists. An open fireplace in the middle cell features a pointed recess at the back and shows signs of an oven to the rear. Exposed wall framing is also visible. The rear extensions have been designed to complement the original building.
