Description
This is an 18th-century shed located on the roadside opposite Ettridge Farmhouse in Brickendon Liberty. It features a timber frame with a low brick sill between the posts and dark weatherboarded sides and rear. The shed has a steep hipped thatch roof that extends down over an outshut on the left-hand side. It is a single-storey, open-fronted cartshed with two bays and a rear aisle, facing west and situated beside a pond. The roof is constructed with clasped purlins, with one purlin on each roofslope and inclined straight queen posts. Long thin braces support the cambered tie-beams, and there are quadrant concave curved braces at the open front and rear aisle. This shed is included for its group value.
