Description
Fanshaw's Farm features a group of farm buildings, one of which now serves as a village hall. These structures date from the 17th and 18th centuries and are constructed with timber frames resting on red brick sills, covered in dark weatherboarding, and topped with steep old red tile roofs. The south stable has a hipped roof on the west side and a half-hipped roof on the east side. The buildings form a large U-shaped arrangement around a yard to the west of the farmhouse. On the west side, there are two barns facing east, each with a projecting gabled porch in the second bay from where the barns meet. The southern barn is known as Fanshaw's Room and has been presented to the village as a village hall, featuring a public entrance in its south gable. The northern stable is lower and faces south, equipped with stable doors and small windows. The southern stable includes a loft, with the western part being an extension that may have originally housed a forge.
