Description

Ettridge Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, with alterations made in the late 18th century. It features a timber frame set on a projecting black stucco sill, with weatherboarding painted white at the front and dark weatherboarding on the sides. The end gable triangle is plastered, and there is a single-storey rear outshut that projects at both ends. The roofs are covered with red tiles, and there is a rear catslide that extends over the outshut, with hipped projecting ends. The large central front dormer has red tile hanging on its cheeks.

The house is two storeys high with attics and is three windows wide, presenting a symmetrical facade facing south, with the east gable oriented towards the road. It has an internal chimney and a lobby-entry, following a two-cells plan with a continuous rear outshut. The south front features a large gabled dormer at the eaves, which contains two-light casement windows. Above the lean-to open porch, there is a similar flush casement window centrally located on the first floor, along with a four-panel half-glazed door set in a moulded surround. The outer windows are flush-box sashes with three-over-three panes on the first floor and eight-over-eight panes on the ground floor. There are two-light casements in the attic and on each floor at the ends. A leaded plate casement from the 18th century remains on the ground floor at the east side. A large red brick stack with four flues runs axially along the ridge, and there is a small gabled dormer on the rear roofslope.
