Description
The Church of St Peter, built in 1892-1893, was designed by architect G H Fellowes Prynne for Sir Edward Clarke. This large church, located on Laleham Road, is constructed in red brick with stone bands and features a tiled roof. It showcases a free Perpendicular style, appearing plain from the road. The east side has stepped lancets, while the west side includes two windows and a rose window. There is a projecting gabled vestry to the south and south-west, and a three-stage crenellated tower with a set-back spire. The west entrance is through a crenellated low lobby. The interior includes a tracery screen beneath the chancel arch for the rood, and the overall design incorporates mixed Gothic styles with some decorative motifs and perpendicular tracery details.
