Description
The Coal Duty Boundary Marker, located on the east side of the railway line and the north side of the Stanham River, is a Grade II listed stone obelisk dating from 1851 or shortly thereafter. This marker was erected under the Coal Duties (London and Westminster and adjacent counties) Act of 1851. It has a square base and stands approximately 15 feet high, tapering from the base through a plinth that finishes with a plain cornice. The shaft of the obelisk features the arms of the City of London, and the plinth is inscribed with "14 & 15 VlCT./CAP. 146".
