Description
Gartley Cottages, built in 1841, is a range of nine charity almshouses located on Dartford Road. The cottages are two storeys high and constructed from stock brick, topped with a slate roof. The central cottage features a pedimented gable adorned with a brick modillion cornice and a circular datestone marking its name and date. It has two sashes with intact glazing bars. Each end cottage also has a pedimented gable, while the remaining cottages each have one sash with glazing bars intact and simple round-headed doorcases. Nos 38 to 52 (even) form a cohesive group.
