Description
This building is a barn, now used as a stable, located approximately 10 metres south-east of Murreys Court. It likely dates from the 17th century and has been altered over time. The structure features a timber frame set on a brick plinth, with weather-board cladding on the south side and red tile hanging on the north side, topped by a red tiled roof. It has a rectangular three-bay plan with wagon entrances in the centre; the front entrance has wooden double doors, while the rear entrance is now blocked. To the left, the first bay, which was formerly a cowshed, has a doorway near the left corner. To the right, the third bay includes a small glazed window at the upper level and a small wooden loading door adjacent to it. There is a lean-to addition at the right-hand end, constructed with matching materials. The rear wall is made of red tiles featuring fish-scale bands. Inside, the barn has post-and-beam construction with close studs and passing braces, cross-frames with convex braces to the tie-beams, Queen-post roof trusses with one tier of butt-purlins, and common rafters without a ridge.
