Description
33 Woodfield Lane is a cottage that dates from the early 18th century or possibly earlier. At the time of the survey in 1988, it was undergoing alterations, renovation, and extension. The cottage features a timber frame with brick nogging that is painted white, a red tile roof, and a brick chimney stack. It has a single-depth, two-unit plan, with a recent addition at the rear.
The building is one and a half storeys tall and consists of two bays. The timber framing is visible on the facade and includes wall posts at the right-hand corner and in the center, a rail between these posts, and curved tension braces at both corners, suggesting there is a wall post at the left corner as well. There is a doorway to the left of the central post, which is sheltered by a light modern porch. On either side of the doorway, there is a two-light casement window, and there are two gabled dormers that break the eaves, each with similar casements.
Attached to the left gable wall is a very large external chimney stack, which has front offsets that have been repaired. The rear of the cottage is entirely covered by the addition. The interior was not inspected during the survey. The right-hand end of the cottage adjoins No. 35 Woodfield Lane.
