Description

Style Cottage is a former pair of cottages that has been converted into a single house. It dates back to the 16th century, with extensions added in the late 16th or early 17th century and a restoration in the 20th century. The building is timber framed, with a base made of sandstone rubble, brick dressings, and red brick infill above the understructure, all covered by a plain tiled roof that is half-hipped at the right end.

The structure is two storeys high and features an L-shaped plan, with one cottage positioned at a right angle to the rear right, now linked to the main building. There is a central ridge stack on the front range, along with two additional ridge stacks on the rear range. The front facade has three framed bays, with an additional bay added to the left end, showcasing curved end braces on the first floor. The first floor has three leaded casement windows, while the ground floor has five leaded casements. A glazed door is located at the rear right, where the two houses connect. There is also a pentice-roofed extension at the right end, which has a dormer above it. The right-hand return front features a hipped roof with gablets and first-floor bracing.

Inside, there is a significant amount of visible framing, particularly on the ceilings.
