Description

Tankards is a house dating from the mid-18th century, with additions made in the 19th century, around 1850, to the rear, and a 20th-century extension to the left end. The house is constructed of coursed Bargate stone with ironstone galleting, brick angle quoins, and dressings. The right-hand return front is tile hung. The roof is tiled, hipped to the right, and half-hipped over the cross wing to the left end.

The main facade features a plat band over the ground floor, red and blue brick dentil eaves to the right, and bargeboards to the hip of the cross wing. A corbelled rear ridge stack is located to the left. The first floor has one larger, cambered head, leaded casement window to the left, and two diamond pane, leaded casement windows to the right. The ground floor has four windows, three of which are under cambered heads. A ribbed door is located to the left of centre, under a cambered head, with a pentice extension to the left. A parallel range, with a hipped roof, extends to the rear right.
