Description

The barn at Lower Eashing Farm dates back to the 16th century but was likely re-assembled in the 18th century and had its roof replaced in the early 19th century. It is timber-framed and covered in weatherboarding, standing on a stone plinth. One end features Bargate stone with galleting and brick quoins, topped with a hipped tiled roof. The barn consists of five bays and has a wall frame with a midrail and diagonal or slightly curved windbraces, including some reused timbers. The roof has an angled queen strut design with early 19th-century rafters and a ridgepiece. Notably, an upright post beside the cart entrance has the date 1840 carved into it.
