Description

Grove Cottage is a cottage dating from the early 17th century, which was extended and restored in the early 20th century. It has a timber frame and is clad in colourwashed red and brown brick, although the colour has worn away. There are weatherboarded extensions to the left. The roof is plain tiled, hipped with a gablet to the left. The cottage stands two storeys high on a plinth with dentilled brick eaves and features leaded casement windows. There is a stack located to the left of centre and another at the rear. The first floor has four windows, with two eaves gabled dormers to the left above the first floor windows, and there are three ground floor windows. To the left is a ribbed door under a gauged brick head. The gabled porch is supported by braced wooden supports, which create arched entrances on the sides and front. Inside, there are timber framed partition walls and deep brick fireplaces.
