Description
Manor House is a house dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century. It is constructed from coursed and galleted sandstone blocks, featuring orange-red brick angle quoins and dressings, with hipped roofs covered in modern machine tiles. The building has two storeys and attics, sitting on a tall plinth with moulded-brick edging. There are stacks on both sides of the centre, with one on the ridge of each rear wing. A plat band runs over the ground floor, and diagonal brick dentils decorate the eaves. The front has five bays with regular fenestration, including five plate glass sash windows on the first floor and four windows below. The central entrance features a half-glazed door with round-headed lights, framed in a moulded wood surround and topped with a flat hood supported by thin metal brackets. To the right, there is a one-bay extension that is set back, with a flat-roofed and parapeted ground floor that projects. The left return front has a central half-glazed door and three windows above on the first floor, two of which are now blocked. The rear has parallel wings at right angles to the front, both with hipped roofs, and a half-hipped, part weatherboarded addition to the front left. Inside, the ground-floor rooms feature chamfered spine beams, and there is a turned baluster staircase.
