Description
The barn at Unstead Manor is a 16th-century structure that was altered in the 18th century. It features a timber frame with a midrail and curved wind braces, topped by a steeply pitched old tiled roof with gablets. The barn has a gabled cart entrance with a 20th-century door and a 19th-century stone rubble lean-to. It consists of four bays supported by parked posts and has a queen post roof with through purlins and curved wind braces, along with original pigged rafters. The two end walls and one side bay have 18th-century infill. Additionally, there is a later garage version of the barn, which is also 18th-century, constructed from timber framing with thin scantling and brick infilling, and features a sandstone rubble pentice roofed extension to the left. The roof is steeply pitched and plain tiled, hipped with end gablets. This section of the barn has three bays and weatherboarded gabled waggon doors positioned to the right of the center, along with a window in the end right of the pentice extension.
