Description
The barn located to the southwest of the Manor House is a 17th-century structure that was altered in the late 18th century. It is timber framed, with the framing exposed in the second bay, while the rest is cased in brick and whitewashed between the entries. The barn features an old tiled roof and consists of seven bays. Bays one and five have late 18th-century hipped projecting cart entries. The bays in between have a lean-to shelter with a pantile roof. The right bays include a brick catslide projection. Inside, the barn has exposed wall posts and some curved wall braces, along with large curved braces supporting the tie beams. The roof is a double purlin design with heavy curved queen posts supporting the lower purlins and later queen strut trusses for the upper purlins, as well as some curved wind-braces.
