Description
The bridge over the pond in Whiteley Village, built around 1912 and likely designed by Sir Reginald Blomfield, is constructed of red brick with stone piers and decorative elements. It features three arches supported by brick piers resting on stone pontoons. Each arch has a one-step surround, and the bridge has a projecting parapet above, which is supported by corbels and features doubled brick piers with stone capitals. The parapet walls are approximately one foot high and have stone coping that rises to a point at the center of the bridge. Additionally, there are eight cast iron lamps placed on square stone plinths along the parapet walls. These lamps stand about six feet tall and have a tapering standard, with a diagonally framed design and tent top, topped with spike finials.
