Description
This pair of cottages with an attached outbuilding dates from the late 17th century, with later additions and alterations. They are constructed from roughly coursed limestone and marlstone rubble, topped with an artificial stone slate roof. The buildings are two stories high and feature a four-window front. On the first floor, there are two 19th-century casement windows to the left, a chamfered two-light mullion window with a dripstone in the center, and a 20th-century top-hung casement window to the right. The ground floor has four 19th-century casement windows with wooden lintels. There is a straight joint, mirrored at the rear, to the right of the two left windows. The cottages have integral end stacks, with a ridge stack in the center that was rebuilt in the 20th century. The right rear corner is rounded. The single-storey outbuilding attached to the left gable end features a 19th-century fixed-light window and a boarded door on the far left. The interior of the right ground-floor room in the left cottage has an encased cross beam and an infilled inglenook fireplace, along with an oak winder staircase to the left. This building is included for its group value.
