Description

No. 55B is a shop located in Witney Market Square, dating from the 17th century with later alterations. The building is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and features a gabled stone slate roof. It has a one-unit plan and is a single storey with a one-window range. The front gable end includes a timber lintel above an early 20th-century three-light transomed casement window and a half-glazed door with an overlight. The right side wall has a gablet above a timber lintel over another three-light casement window. Inside, there is a chamfered beam and a collar-truss. The building is shown on the Ordnance Survey map as No. 54B.
