Description
The outbuildings and attached wall and steps, located approximately 40 meters north of Upper Close, are a coach house that has been converted into outbuildings. They date from the early 18th century and are constructed of marlstone ashlar with Welsh-slate roofs. The structure is a single range and has two storeys.
The right section features a plinth and an eaves band, with an arcade of four segmental-arched entrances that have been infilled with later walling and openings. Originally, this range extended further to the right. The left section is lower in height but also has a similar plinth. It contains a narrow doorway and two wider entrances separated by a circular stone pier. There is a second narrow doorway at the extreme left that retains a segmental arch. The rear wall displays a continuous band and includes three segmental-arched windows on the rear of the higher range, two of which are now blocked.
The wall extends westward as a retaining wall alongside the lane and ends with a flight of stone steps. This building is likely one of the structures associated with Ledwell Park, which was rebuilt in the early 18th century for the Earl of Deloraine and was demolished around 1800.
