Description
The Plough is a public house that has been converted into a house. It dates from the early to mid-18th century and is constructed of marlstone rubble with squared dressings and timber lintels. The roof is made of Welsh slate and features stone and brick gable stacks. The building has a central-stair plan with rear wings and stands two storeys tall, plus an attic.
The front of the building has three windows and a central four-panel door with a rectangular overlight, flanked by 16-pane sash windows. On the first floor, there are three 2-light casements. The end walls have gable parapets with shaped kneelers; the right gable stack projects, and there is a bread-oven projection on the left side. A similar rear wing extends from the left, and a lower range with casements projects from it.
Inside, there is a large open fireplace with a timber bressumer. The building was in use as a public house until 1966.
