Description

Tyte Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the 17th century, which was remodelled in the 19th century. It is constructed from limestone rubble with squared marlstone quoins and has a cement-rendered front and sides. The roof is made of Welsh slate and features limestone ashlar stacks. The building has a three-unit, through-passage plan and stands two storeys plus an attic.

The front has a four-window arrangement, with a four-panel door and a shallow gabled canopy located to the left of centre. To the right, there are two canted bay windows, and to the left, a large three-light casement window. The first floor features three similar casements and a single-light window above the door. All windows are 19th-century alterations and have chamfered surrounds. The roof has double-shafted stacks with plinths and cornices on either side of the centre and on the left gable, with the roof being higher over the right bay. The left gable wall includes a full-depth stone-slated fireplace projection, while the right gable retains a three-light stone-mullioned window.

At the rear, there is a gabled stair tower on the lower section, and in the higher bays, there are two small chamfered stair windows. Inside, there is a fireplace with ogee chamfer stops to the bressumer and chamfered ashlar jambs, along with two large open fireplaces and winder stairs leading to the attic.
