Description
This group of three headstones, located approximately 20 meters south of the church tower in Blewbury, includes one dedicated to William Hope and another to Sibilia Hope. The headstone for William Hope is dated 1683 and features a round-topped slab with the inscription: "Here lyeth interred the body of William Hope who departed this life the 4th Day of July anno domeny 1683 aged 90 years and 6 munthes." The headstone for Sibilia Hope, dated 1679, also has a round-topped slab and reads: "Here lyeth interred the body of Sibilla the wife of William Hope, who departed this life the 6th day of January anno domeny 1679 aged 81 years and 3 munthes." The third headstone, likely from the 17th century, features a scroll-topped slab with an illegible inscription, possibly in Greek.
