Description
This is a headstone commemorating Clara Giles, located 12 metres south of the Church of St John the Baptist in Hope Bagot. It dates from the early 18th century and is made of ashlar stone. The headstone features a rectangular slab set horizontally, with a twin tablet that has an inscription running continuously across both sections. At the top, there is a decorative double pattern that includes heart and laurel leaf motifs, along with a carved top. The memorial commemorates Clara and her son William, who were the wife and son of Benjamin Giles, with Clara having died in 1714.
