Description
The Cottage is a house that likely dates from the 17th century, featuring a brick front that is dated 1803, located to the left of the porch. The building is constructed of brick, with old plain tiles covering the lower part of the roof and thatch on the upper part, which is hipped over a single-storey bay on the right side. There is a brick ridge stack at the center of the roof.
The house has a 2-unit lobby-entry plan and is a two-storey, two-bay structure positioned at right angles to the road. A plank door is located at the center, accompanied by a 20th-century open brick porch. To the left of the door, there is a three-light casement window with a segmental brick head, while to the right of the center, there is a two-light casement with a segmental brick head, and a single-light casement to the right. On the first floor, there are two-light casements to the left and right, and a single-light casement to the right of the center.
To the right, there is a single-storey, single-bay addition that features timber framing with 20th-century brick infill. The interior has not been inspected, but it is noted to have chamfered spine beams on the ground floor and may be of cruck construction with later alterations.
