Description
This is a house located at 21 High Street, dating from the mid-17th century, with a late 18th-century brick front and 20th-century alterations and additions. The building is constructed of red brick and features an old plain-tile roof with a brick ridge stack at the rear. It has a two-unit plan with a cross-wing at the back and is two stories high with a two-window range. The front has three-light casements, with the ground floor windows having segmental brick heads.
On the left side, there is large timber framing with brick infill, which is painted on the first floor, and a Queen-post roof truss at the gable end. A 20th-century door leads to a 20th-century porch and addition on the left. The right side also features large timber framing with brick and rendered infill. Inside, the ground floor has chamfered spine beams with ogee-shaped end stops and jowled main posts, along with a Queen-post roof that includes wind braces.
