Description

Glebe House is a house located in Odstock Village, dating from the early 17th century, with later enlargements and remodels in the late 17th and 18th centuries. The building features English bond brick on the ground floor and ornamental tile-hanging on the first floor, topped with a tiled roof and brick stacks. Originally a three-bay timber-framed house from the 17th century, it has been expanded to five bays with projecting wings at the front.

The house is two stories tall with an attic and has five windows. A central six-panelled door is set in a gabled porch, flanked by a pair of three-light leaded casements with segmental arches above, and there is a single casement window in each of the narrow wings, although the front window on the left is blocked. A three-brick plat band runs along the first floor, which features three three-light leaded casements and single casements in the wings, both of which have hipped roofs.

The central full dormer is tile-hung, with a hipped roof and a three-light casement. The right side of the building has an external stack and no windows, while the left side has hipped-roofed extensions. At the rear, there is a 20th-century glazed porch on the left, with three two-light leaded casements on the right side of the ground floor. The right part of the first floor is tile-hung with a four-light wooden casement, and to the left are two two-light casements.

Inside, the house features chamfered beams, planked doors with strap hinges, and fireplaces with chamfered timber lintels. An attached granary is connected to the left side of the house by a covered passageway with a tiled roof.
