Description

Ward Cottage, which adjoins the Old Post Office, is a cottage dating from the early 17th century. It features timber framing with daub and brick infill, and has a plain-tile roof. The building is a single unit, consisting of one storey plus an attic. The entrance is located in the gable wall beside an inserted brick stack. The front and side have a rubble plinth with daub infill, while the rear has brick infill. Inside, there is a quarter-turn stair and a clasped purlin roof. The roof is continuous with that of the Old Post Office to the right, which may have been an extension of Ward Cottage. The cottage is part of an L-shaped group that includes the Old Post Office and Coney Cottage.
