Description
The Old Post Office and adjacent cottage, dated 1713, are two cottages located on Church Road in Barton Bendish. They are constructed from brick, carstone, and ashlar, topped with a thatched roof, while the rear outshut has a pantiled roof. The buildings are one storey high with a dormer attic. The west gable features brick tumbling and a set-off to the attic floor, along with a date plaque inscribed with 1713 in Roman numerals. The facade has doors on the left and right of the center, with three 20th-century casement windows. Above one of the doors is a plaque that reads: L E R 1713. There are three dormers with sloping pantiled roofs and casements. The roof is gabled, and there is a square early 18th-century ridge stack located left of center, along with a rebuilt external stack on the right.
