Description

The gatepier, located approximately 155 meters west of Piccadilly Cottage, is part of the entrance screen to Ascott Park and is likely from the 17th century. It is made of limestone ashlar and has a square plan with pilaster strips on all sides. The pilasters at the front and rear are rusticated, and the structure features a moulded base and cornice that break around the projections. At the top, there is a ball finial on a moulded base. This gatepier is one of two main piers from a set of six that mark the entrance to Ascott Park, which is recognized in the Historic Buildings and Monuments Commission County Register of Gardens at Grade II.
