Description
The gatepier, located approximately 200 meters west of Piccadilly Cottage, is part of the entrance screen to Ascott Park and is likely from the 17th century. It is constructed of limestone ashlar and has a square plan with pilaster strips on all sides, featuring a rusticated front. The gatepier has a moulded base and cornice that break around projections, with remnants of a moulded base from a finial. This structure is one of four lesser piers from a total of six at the entrance to Ascott Park, which is listed in the Historic Buildings and Monuments Commission County Register of Gardens at Grade II.
