Description

The Stables is a 17th-century farmhouse, later altered in the early 18th century, now used as a house. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with squared dressings, and has an old plain-tile roof with a brick ridge stack. The building originally comprised two principal units, with a rear outshut. It is two storeys high plus attics, and has a two-window front. A central doorway is sheltered by a 20th-century tiled porch. Large, 3-light 18th-century casement windows are located in the outer bays of the front elevation; the ground-floor openings are topped with stone flat arches. The right gable wall features two 2-light stone-mullioned windows with ovolo moulding. A large, clustered brick stack is positioned in line with the entrance. The interior has not been inspected. An outbuilding to the left, originally of rubble and weatherboard construction, is now incorporated into the main dwelling.
