Description

The West Gatepier, located approximately 20 meters southeast of the Manor House, is a gatepier dating from around 1670. It is constructed of stone ashlar and features a square shape with stone banding on the sides. There are round-topped niches on the sides facing the house and on the opposing side. At the top, it has a cornice with a pulvinated frieze, and the center of each side projects forward on brackets. A ball finial crowns the structure. This gatepier is one of a pair that marks the former path of the entrance drive and is similar to the gatepiers at Coleshill designed by Sir Roger Pratt.
