Description
Manor Cottage is a house dating from the mid-14th century. It features a stone uncoursed rubble plinth and stone uncoursed rubble on the ground floor of the cross-wing to the right. The building has irregular timber-framing with brick infill, mostly painted, and a thatched roof that is hall-hipped to the cross-wing. There is a 20th-century brick lateral stack on the left return of the cross-wing and a stone end stack with a 20th-century brick flue to the left.
This is a single-ended hall house, comprising a single-storey-and-attic, 2-bay range with a 2-storey, 3-bay cross-wing. A 20th-century door is located to the right of the main range at the junction with the cross-wing. The fenestration is irregular, featuring casements, and there is a swept dormer to the left of centre. On the right return, the first floor displays tension braces. Although the interior was not inspected, it is noted to have a cruck truss in the former hall range and a crown-post roof in the cross-wing.
